Invisalign® is an orthodontic treatment system that uses clear aligner trays to correct dental misalignment. These trays are made with patented SmartTrack® technology — a versatile material that’s strong enough to guide your teeth into their proper place while being comfortable enough to wear for extended periods. Our experienced dentist, Dr. Agamov, can provide you with Invisalign® in Sharon, consisting of a series of custom-made trays to wear over time to achieve the results you want.

Orthodontic Solutions With Invisalign® Treatment

Thanks to advancements in dental technology, there has never been a better time to undergo orthodontic treatment. In the past, correcting dental misalignment or malocclusion, involved wearing traditional metal braces. While metal braces have proven effective, they are known for being an inconvenient, time-consuming solution to orthodontic issues. Not only can the metal brackets and wires hurt your mouth and restrict your diet, but also they’re difficult to clean and treatment can take at least two years.

Luckily, patients are no longer limited to this age-old solution. If you’re a patient at our Sharon dental office, cosmetic dentist, orthodontist, and Invisalign provider Alla Agamov, DMD can offer Invisalign® as an orthodontic alternative. With Invisalign, Dr. Agamov can bring you many of the same results as orthodontic treatment with metal braces without the drawbacks.

Benefits of Invisalign® vs. Metal Braces

Invisalign® in Sharon offers a host of benefits that make them an option most patients prefer over metal braces. They’re the orthodontic treatment of choice for many patients because they’re:

  • Comfortable — Invisalign® clear aligners straighten your smile without metal brackets and wires, making them far more comfortable than traditional metal braces.
  • Removable — Being able to remove your aligner trays allows you to easily clean them, store them, and eat what you want.
  • Quick — The average length of treatment time with Invisalign clear aligners takes six months to one year, half the average time of traditional metal braces.
  • Clear — The SmartTrack® material used to make Invisalign is almost completely transparent. No one will notice your orthodontic treatment unless you tell them.
  • Convenient — Since your Invisalign® aligner trays are easily removable and don’t have any metal brackets or wires for your Invisalign provider to adjust, this cuts down on the number of dental visits necessary to keep your treatment on track.

How Does Orthodontic Treatment With Invisalign® Work?

Consultation

Before you can begin receiving treatment with Invisalign® in Sharon, you’ll undergo a consultation with our orthodontist, Dr. Agamov. During your consultation, she’ll examine your mouth, review your medical history, and discuss your orthodontic goals and budget with you. The information she collects during your consultation will allow her to determine your candidacy for Invisalign treatment.

Designing Your Invisalign® Clear Aligners

Once Dr. Agamov decides that Invisalign® is right for you, we’ll take images and impressions of your mouth and teeth. These images will serve as the blueprints for your custom-made aligner trays. Your aligner trays will be fabricated at a special lab owned by Invisalign® and you’ll return to our Sharon, MA office once they’re ready.

Your Invisalign® Clear Aligners

When you return for your aligner trays, Dr. Agamov will ensure the first set fits properly before sending you home with the rest of your trays. Your trays should easily snap into place over your teeth, with no anesthetic required. Your Invisalign® dentist is likely to have you return in the coming months to ensure your treatment is working. Based on your treatment progress, she may also order additional trays.

Wearing Your Invisalign® Clear Aligners

In order for your treatment of Invisalign® in Sharon to work properly, you’ll wear each set of aligner trays for a minimum of 22 hours a day. On average, each set of trays will be worn for two to four weeks, until you’ve worn each set in the series in the right order. By the time you’re finished wearing all of them, your treatment should be complete. The only time it’s necessary to remove your aligners is when you eat, drink fluids other than cool water, and practice proper oral hygiene habits.

Post-Orthodontic Treatment

To help ensure that your results last, your Invisalign® provider can offer special post-Invisalign® retainers from Vivera™. Vivera retainers look very similar to your Invisalign® clear aligners because they’re also almost completely transparent. However, they’re made to be worn after your Invisalign® orthodontic treatment is complete.

Using Vivera retainers after Invisalign® treatment helps preserve your results and prevents orthodontic relapse, which occurs when your teeth start shifting back into their original positions. This occurs because the ligaments that hold your teeth remember their original positions and need time to get used to their new ones.

Wearing your retainers for the amount of time prescribed for your Invisalign® in Sharon, will help your teeth set permanently into their proper places. Your Invisalign dentist will design your Vivera retainer using the same blueprints for your Invisalign clear aligner trays and you’ll care for your retainer in a similar manner as your aligner trays.

The Importance of Orthodontic Treatment

Even if dental misalignment isn’t making you feel self-conscious, having a straight smile is beneficial for your oral health. Untreated dental misalignment can lead to a host of oral health issues that can negatively impact your overall health including:

  • Gum disease
  • Further misalignment
  • Tooth decay
  • Gum recession
  • Bruxism (teeth grinding)
  • TMD

FAQ

What is the cost of Invisalign®?

The exact price of Invisalign® in Sharon will depend on numerous factors including how severe your malocclusion is, how many trays you’ll need, how well you care for your trays and your insurance. Your Invisalign provider and the staff at our Sharon dental office recommend reaching out to your insurance provider beforehand and asking them which costs they can cover.

If you’re uninsured or underinsured, don’t worry. We provide flexible financing options, including third-party financing through CareCredit. There are also special offers that you may be able to take advantage of to further help with your Invisalign® treatment cost.

What happens if I eat or drink while wearing my Invisalign® trays?

Failure to remove your Invisalign® aligners before eating or drinking fluids other than cool water can lead to the trays becoming damaged, stained, and ineffective. This can also allow for bacteria to accumulate on the trays, increasing the risk of bad breath, infection, and tooth decay. Remove your Invisalign® trays as necessary to prevent damage and oral health issues, and make sure they’re clean before you put them back in. This will help ensure your treatment with Invisalign® in Sharon is as fast and effective as it should be.

How do I take care of my Invisalign® clear aligners?

Taking proper care of your clear aligners is essential to keeping your Invisalign treatment on track. To care for your aligner trays, your Invisalign® provider recommends following these instructions:

  1. Remove your aligner trays before you eat, drink fluids other than water, and clean your teeth.
  2. Use lukewarm water, a soft-bristled toothbrush, and a gentle, unscented antibacterial soap or toothpaste to clean your trays.
  3. Store your aligners in their protective case when not in use.
  4. Soak your aligner trays at least once a day in a mix of three parts lukewarm water and one part white distilled vinegar or Invisalign® cleaning crystals.
  5. Rinse your aligners before putting them back in your mouth.
  6. Remove your aligners from back to front to avoid tearing them.

Is Invisalign® treatment painful?

Your Invisalign® clear aligners work by exerting continuous pressure on your teeth over time. It’s normal to experience some mild pain and discomfort with each new set of trays, but this usually fades after a short time.

If you experience pain or discomfort lasting more than a few days due to using Invisalign® in Sharon, call our dental office or submit a contact form. Your orthodontist and the rest of our dental staff will do their best to resolve any issues you may be having.
